Brooks & Dunn Biography and History
Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn formed Brooks & Dunn in Nashville in 1990, after producer Tim DuBois encouraged the two solo artists to work together. Their contrast became a defining strength: Brooks brought energetic stage presence, while Dunn's powerful voice anchored the duo's honky-tonk hits and emotional ballads. They went on to become the best-selling country duo of all time, with more than 20 million albums sold and 20 number-one singles.
Their signature songs include “Boot Scootin' Boogie,” “Neon Moon,” “Hard Workin' Man,” “My Maria,” “Red Dirt Road” and “Believe.” Albums such as Brand New Man and Hard Workin' Man helped establish their place in '90s country music. The duo earned 22 CMA Awards, including Duo of the Year for 14 consecutive years, and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2019.
After retiring as a touring duo in 2010, Brooks & Dunn reunited in 2015 and continued performing for country audiences. Their Reboot project revisited familiar material through collaborations with newer artists. At the Evansville date, the duo's extensive catalog offered plenty of recognizable songs, from dance-floor favorites to reflective ballads. The May 2022 listing documents their return to the Ford Center stage; no additional details about earlier appearances at the venue are provided.
